Cookie policy

Every cookie and piece of browser storage Kweele uses, what each one does, and how long it lasts.

Last updated: October 26, 2026

1. The short version

Kweele uses a few cookies and some storage in your browser to run the site. Each one keeps you signed in, keeps your cart, takes a payment safely, or remembers a choice you made. We don’t use analytics or advertising cookies, and we don’t let analytics or advertising companies track you through Kweele. That is why we don’t show a cookie banner.

2. Cookies Kweele sets

Set by Kweele, on kweele.com:

  • tz (functional): remembers your time zone, which your browser reports, so dates and times show in your local time. Lasts 1 year, renewed on each visit.
  • view (functional): remembers whether you chose Square or Wide results in search. Set only when you choose; lasts 6 months.
  • kw_cart (strictly necessary): a random ID that links a signed-out visitor’s browser to their cart. Removed when you sign in and the cart moves to your account; otherwise lasts 30 days.
  • kw_policy_seen (functional): remembers that you closed the notice about a change to our Terms and Privacy Policy, so it isn’t shown again. Set only when you close it; lasts 1 year.

3. Sign-in cookies (Clerk)

Clerk, our sign-in provider, sets these on every page so Kweele knows whether you’re signed in. All are strictly necessary. Clerk may add a suffix to these names, and may also set cookies on its own sign-in address.

  • __session: shows you’re signed in. The sign-in token inside it is short-lived and renewed while you use Kweele. The cookie can last up to 1 year, and is removed when you sign out.
  • __client_uat: records when you last signed in or out, so each page can tell. Lasts up to 1 year; when you sign out it stays, recording that you’re signed out.
  • __refresh: lets your session be renewed without signing in again.
  • __clerk_handshake, __clerk_handshake_nonce and __clerk_redirect_count: used for a few seconds while a sign-in is confirmed.

4. Payment cookies (Stripe)

Only on the pages where you pay: checkout, paying for a stage, and paying for materials. Stripe sets them to prevent fraud. They are strictly necessary.

  • __stripe_mid: identifies your browser to Stripe’s fraud checks. Lasts about 1 year.
  • __stripe_sid: the same, for one visit. Lasts about 30 minutes.

Stripe’s payment form may also set cookies on Stripe’s own websites. Stripe may use what it collects there across the websites that take payments through Stripe, to spot fraud.

5. Other storage in your browser

These stay on your device. Kweele’s servers never receive them.

  • kweele.viewed.pros (local storage, functional): the last 8 professionals you opened, for “Recently viewed”. It belongs to whoever is signed in on this browser and is cleared when someone else signs in. It stays until then, or until you clear your browser’s data.
  • kweele:shortlist, kweele:job-draft, kweele:message-draft:… and kweele:quote-draft:… (session storage, functional): your shortlist of professionals and anything you’ve typed but not sent. Cleared when you close the tab.

6. In the Kweele app

The app uses no cookies and no trackers. Your sign-in is kept in your phone’s secure storage.

7. Your choices

You can block or delete cookies in your browser’s settings. Without the strictly necessary ones you can’t sign in, keep a cart or pay. Without tz, dates show in US Eastern time.

8. Changes

We update this page whenever we add or remove a cookie. If we ever want to use analytics or advertising cookies, we’ll ask you first. Our Privacy Policy covers the rest of what we collect.
