Delete your account
Buyers and professionals can delete their Kweele account themselves, in the app or on the web. Suppliers, and anyone who can’t sign in, can ask us to. Here is how, and what happens to your information.
In the app
Open Kweele, go to Profile, and choose Delete account at the bottom. Read what happens, then confirm.
On the web
Sign in at kweele.com, open Settings, and use Delete account at the bottom of the page.
Can’t sign in, or have a supplier account?
Supplier accounts are closed by our staff, and so is the account of anyone who can’t sign in. Send us the contact form, choose “Privacy or account deletion request”, and enter the email address on your account. We’ll confirm it’s you, then delete the account the same way, and reply within 45 days.
When a supplier account closes, its listings come off the shop and its storefront closes.
When you’ll need to wait
If money is still moving on your account, finish that first: a stage Kweele is holding, a problem Kweele is looking at, materials or an order still being delivered or checked, or a payout being sent to you. The app and Settings list exactly what is open. Once each one is released, refunded, settled or paid out, you can delete.
What we delete
When you confirm, we delete these from Kweele’s records straight away. Files and saved cards go right after; if that fails, we try again every night until they’re gone.
- Your name, email and phone number.
- Your saved cards (stored at Stripe), delivery addresses, and the delivery details on your past orders.
- Your pro profile, services, work photos, availability and verification, including the photos of your ID.
- Your saved payout account and your crew list.
- The photos on your job posts.
- Your permission for professionals to show photos of your project on their profile, so those photos come off it.
- Push notifications, and every signed-in session on every device.
- Our log of the emails and texts we sent you, and anything you sent us through the contact form or the waitlist with that email address.
What we keep
Some records belong to other people, or the law requires us to keep them. They stay in Kweele’s records, shown as “Former Kweele member” instead of your name, except where a point below says otherwise:
- Payment, payout and order records, including the mobile-money number each payout was sent to.
- Messages you sent, which stay with the people who received them, and reviews you wrote, which stay on the profile or product they’re about.
- Projects you were part of, with their updates and photos. Any with no money held are cancelled, and your open job posts are closed.
- If you were paid through Kweele: a record of your ID check, with your name, the ID type and number, and the result (not the photos), for 5 years, to meet record-keeping duties for payments. Then we delete it.
- If your account was suspended: the scrambled fingerprints that stop it from coming back, while the suspension stands.
- Our staff’s record of the actions they took on your account and your money, with the reasons and notes they wrote.
- If you closed a supplier account: your business name, on your past orders, your replies to reviews, your listings and our staff’s record of actions on the account. The listings come off the shop, but a direct link to one still opens it.
Stripe, our payment processor, keeps its own record of each payment you made: the amount, what it was for, the email the receipt went to, and any delivery name, phone and address. Our email and text-message providers keep their own logs of the messages they delivered. Deleting your Kweele account doesn’t delete those copies.
Not a Kweele member?
If you joined the waitlist, wrote to us through the contact form, or a professional added you to their crew or named you as a reference, you can ask us to delete your details. Send us the contact form, choose “Privacy or account deletion request”, and say which applies. We’ll delete your details, except what we must keep in payment records, and reply within 45 days.
Use our contact form. See also our Privacy Policy.
